We have a big Victorian house and with a home of this age come electrical challenges.
We have knob and tube. Knowing this we decided to tackle one floor at a time, and called in a number of companies. We started with the attic floor. Whilst the job done was adequate and safe, attention to detail and the house's structure was not considered, wires were placed external to the walls, and were visible throughout. Cleanup was minimal and the team of workers paid no attention to the new carpets or the newly decorated walls.
The bedroom floor was next and by this time we dreaded having to start on this knowing the experience of the attic floor. However, having seen Benoit Electric around the city we contacted them and asked for a quote. From the outset their approach was professional and timely. John Benoit came, inspected the job and produced a detailed estimate. We were told that his work team had experience with knob and tube in older homes. Having accepted the quote a date and time was set. From past experiences with other jobs needed in an old house it never occurred to me that there would not be a postponement of the start date.
However, from the first day to the last everything ran according to plan. The team were professional, and courteous. They started on the day they said, put in a full day's work, and at all times were considerate of our home. They cleaned up at the end of a day, and the following morning arrived back and on time (no going to another job and dropping in between jobs). They did not play loud music and generally we were not aware of their presence other than them doing their job.
The experience was a very positive one from start to finish. Follow up was excellent; when we had to ask them to come back and check something they were prompt and efficient - no delays and the issue was fixed.
Our main floor needs doing now, and I will have no hesitation to get Benoit Electric in again to do the remaining part of our home.
